January 2010, Trip to Texas!
Riding the camel
I have forgotten how much work it is to take care of a baby! I guess that is why we go through menopause. 50 somethings are not meant to be full time parents.
Philip and I went to Texas to see Sam, Sara, Ty and Claire Ann. We got there on Friday morning and went to pick up Ty at his school. Then back to the house where Sara was home with Claire Ann who had developed Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Sam had stayed home with Claire Ann the whole previous week, so I think they were glad to see us. Our first day there she was a little cranky, but she was a dream child the rest of the time. She is such a little doll! And her needs are simple - feed her, let her sleep, and change her.
Now Ty - our 5 year old - is a little different. He is such a BOY! He and Papa played with light sabers, and watched The Three Stooges, and then some Wii games, then Ty would get on Papa's shoulders and "ride the camel" and that was just in the morning! Oh, and then in the afternoon we went to River Legacy Park and ran, and ran, and ran. And they played on Ty's jungle gym pretending that it was a starship and they were out to catch and destroy the martian (that would be me). And then they played golf, and hand ball, and Ty rode his scooter with the same type of abandon that his father used to ride his bicycle. Thank heavens there are no barbed wire fences where Ty plays - but that is a story for another day.
We also went to the Fort Worth Stock Show, and to the Fort Worth Zoo. Busy, busy, busy!
We're home now, and, honestly - we miss them terribly already! Wish we could see them more often.
