Agnes Lee Miles Hoffman, 96, of Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg died Oct. 11 at the Wilson Health Care Center. Born in Culpepper, Va., she was a daughter of the late William E. and Drusilla Johnson Sherman. She was a women's clothing sales clerk for more than 50 years. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Harry N. Miles and the late John H. Hoffman. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 16. Alphus Harry "Jack" Sherman
Alphus H. "Jack" Sherman, age 78, of Baldwin, MD, died on April 1, 2010 at his home. Born in Sparks, MD, he was the son of the late Alphus Omega and Anna Lillian Smith Sherman. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during the Korean Conflict. He retired, after 22 years, with the Maryland State Police and then went to Martin Marietta where he was supervisor of security. Prior to his employment with the State Police, he worked on building the Glen L. Martin Mars Sea Plane. Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife, Sally Greenfield Sherman of Baldwin, MD; sons, Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. and wife, Jacki Altimus Sherman, of Whiteford, MD and Matthew Warren Sherman, and wife, Judith Lovell Sherman, of Delta, PA; daughters, Amy Jeanette Sherman Heitmuller and husband, Lawrence, of Delta, PA, Elizabeth (Kathy) Sherman Toon of Clarksville, TN, Lois Lorrette Sherman Altimus and husband, James U.
