June 10, 2018It's been awhile and I won't go into all the details - now. I will try to fill in the blanks at some point. With sister Duane's encouragement I joined 23 & Me and sent them the disgusting little vial of saliva. Not a lot of surprise except this - I have 0% Native American blood. So, the missing Cherokee link will remain missing for ever. April 17, 2010With the recent death of our Uncle Jack Sherman, I've connected again with a first cousin, David Sherman (Uncle Bob's oldest son). David has been working on the Sherman family tree and has some interesting information on Ancestry.com. Reading his information, and some recent study I've been doing on the Fulbright/Waugh family has made me want to delve into our ancestry along with David. I'd like to find out if we are related to William Tecumseh Sherman - theory is that he has no direct descendants, but we might be kissing cousins. Just need to do the research. Maybe in the process I'll find the missing Cherokee link as well.
Here is a posting David made to a search site. If you have any information let us know. WILLIAM E. SHERMAN,b. June 14, 1860, Virginia?, d. 1907, Damascus, Montgomery Co., Maryland b. She is supposed to be half Cherokee (North Carolina). I believe my Sherman ancestors arrived in Georgia in the mid 1600's and trekked North. Supposedly, my gggrandmother was from the Walking Stick Tribe/Wolf Clan, and escaped from the "Trail of Tears" into Virginia. RESEARCHER: Dave Sherman -- [email protected] (July, 1997)

Jacque"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body... but rather to skid into the grave sideways, chocolate in one hand, margarita in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
