My FamilyA joy of childhood is being without worry. I didn't realize we were not rich. Daddy was a farmer. We raised milk and beef cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, and I had a horse. We had a garden which furnished enough produce to eat with extra to "put by." We attended church on Sundays and had lots of friends. And there were always birthday and Christmas presents. All four of us children graduated from high school, attended college, and managed careers. So though we were not rich with money, we were wealthy in all the things that mattered.

places I have beenI was fortunate to have married a man who loves to travel. Growing up if we travelled anywhere it was to visit family. Even though my mother was from Maryland, and that's where we would visit, I was not raised with wanderlust in my blood. I never dreamed I'd live in Germany or in New York. Nor did I dream that I would travel to Montreal, Quebec, New Brunswick, Grand Manan Island, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Italy and France (several times), Mexico, Jamaica, every state east of the Mississippi and several west of it. Many of our early photos are not digital, so it will take me some time to scan and archive everything; but until then, you can go to my travel page, hover over the pictures for the location of each journey, then click and you will see where I've been.

Made by HandMy problem is wanting to do it all! I knit, crochet, quilt, sew, embroider, draw, paint, garden, cook, bake, and am pretty handy with a hammer and screwdriver. I've rewired lamps and the house hasn't burned down, and I recently disconnected a battery operated sink faucet that would gush forth on it's own - which I detested. I may not do any of this perfectly, but I can say I tried and I've not been ashamed to hide the things my hands have made. I've been called Jacque of All Trades! Click on the photo of my Elinore Shawl above to see some more of my creations!

Where we called homeI am a farmer's daughter from Rothville, Missouri. I've lived in Missouri, New Jersey, Maryland and Germany, then back to Missouri. Philip is a doctor's son from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived in Pennsylvania, Guatemala, Vermont, Arkansas, and Missouri. We met, married, and moved together to Long Island, New York where we lived for 37 years. Now we are retired and living in Asheville, North Carolina. A lot has happened between the day I was born and today; more than I will remember and some that I don't wish to recall. But along the way I took some pictures and will share with you.
